Special Considerations: In-service food processing facility, High Traffic Roof
Doing any kind of construction on buildings where food is processed is generally more complex than a regular industrial roof. For this building specifically, we accommodated a modified work schedule due to the food processing below, and we also had to take into consideration the HVAC and refrigeration systems already in place on the roof of the structure. There was some equipment that was either not possible to disconnect or disconnected for a narrow specific time limit and we developed the necessary workaround solutions to accommodate the client.
The unusually large number of roof projections, especially around critical areas like the tunnel ovens, required careful planning to navigate during installation.
High foot traffic areas needed a roofing system robust enough to endure wear while offering long-term performance.
Summer temperatures posed risks to crew safety and impacted the pace of work, making strategic planning essential to mitigate these conditions.
Maintaining full-scale food processing during the project required meticulous coordination to avoid disruptions and uphold stringent cleanliness standards.
The client’s tight deadlines demanded precision in execution, with no margin for delays across the project’s phases.
The roof housed HVAC and refrigeration systems vital to production, many of which couldn’t be disconnected or could only be shut down for limited periods. This necessitated workarounds to ensure smooth operations.
To meet the unique demands of this food processing facility, our team implemented tailored strategies and innovative solutions. From scheduling adjustments to material selection, every decision was guided by the need to ensure uninterrupted operations, long-term roof durability, and compliance with industry standards.
By collaborating closely with the client and their contractors, we navigated logistical hurdles and equipment constraints, delivering a seamless project execution. Our approach prioritized both safety and precision, ensuring that the roofing system could handle the facility’s high-traffic requirements and unique operational challenges.
The project was completed efficiently and with minimal disturbance to the food production that was ongoing within the building. With every roofing project, listening to the concerns of our clients is our top priority, and because of our experience in the field, we are often able to provide durable solutions even for complex multi-purpose roofs like this one.
